Fray Gerónimo de Areviano: Documents proposing his Beatification
Scope and Contents
Material compiled for proposing the beatification of Fray Gerónimo de Areviano (1576-[1651]), Spanish cleric of the Augustinian College in Alcala de Henares, apparently collected by Benito de Aste, Rector of the College. There are two heavily corrected accounts of de Areviano's life, miracles and sanctity; a memorial by Fray Hernando de Padilla, Provincial of the Order for Castille; questions to 28 witnesses, with the answers; 23 letters or signed declarations; printed Aviso and Interrogatorio; and a later letter from Benito de Aste to the Cardinal Archbishop of Toledo, urging action. The volume has the stamp of Sir J. ____ Hill on the front flyleaf, and the number 2236 on the spine. c.240pp.
