34 letters from Gardiner to his sister Margaret Gardiner, 1921-30 and 1948-60, on his time at Cambridge, discussing friends; acquaintances; literature; poetry; drama; philosophy; Cambridge societies; folk-dancing; Douglas-New Age scheme; visits to Austria and Italy, 1922-26; morris-dancing; hiking expeditions; visits to Germany, 1926-30; work with Georg on a dance-book, Hill Farm, Wiltshire; and the German education system and youth camps. The letters also cover the Keynes memoir of D.H. Lawrence and Bloomsbury and King's 'metallists'; death of Balfour, 1950; business matters concerning Africa; living in Nyasaland (Malawi), 1950s; developments in Kenya; and the 'Lady Chatterley' trial.
