Biographical / Historical
The Cambridge Expedition to Ecuador was conducted by five undergraduates from Cambridge University (Michael Potts, Timothy Pritchard, Gary Baker, Kemlin Furley and Louise Semple) between August and September 1985 under the aegis of the Cambridge University Explorers' and Travellers' Club. Their aim was to study migration into Eastern Ecuador in recent years, with special reference to the development and effects of the oil industry, general agriculture and agro-industry, and to collect tape-recorded samples of local dialects and accents. The study was carried out in Napo, the northernmost of the four provinces that constitute the Oriente in Ecuador.
