Photographs of Tuanku Abdul Halim, Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia
Scope and Contents
Collection of five coloured and ten black and white photographs kept in a yellow folder with the Malaysian Coat of Arms on the cover; one pocket contains the photographs, the other two extracts from the Malaysia Year Book and a leaflet on the State Visit of the Yang di-Pertuan Agon and the Raja Permaisuri Agong of Malaysia to the United Kingdom July 9 to July 12 1974. The folder was presumably issued by the Malaysian High Commission to mark the occasion. Tuanku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah ibni Al Marhum Sultan Badlishah was born in 1927 and became Sultan of Kedah on the death of his father in 1958. He was elected Yang di-Pertuan Agong (the Supreme Head of Malaysia, chosen from the nine State rulers) for a period of five years on 23 July 1970. He was married in 1956 to Tuanku Bahiyah binti Al Marhum Tuanku Abdul Rahman, the eldest daughter of the first Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia. She was born in 1930. Photographs were taken by an unnamed official photographer.
