Immediate Source of Acquisition

MS.Add.6694-6698 and 6708-6750 were originally the property of Joseph Foster, before passing to Sir Robert Forsyth Scott. The collection as a whole was presented to the Library by Lady Scott, 1933.

MS.Add.6694-6698: The index is referred to in Foster's Alumni Oxonienses as 'Foster's Inns of Court Reg.'. The separate admissions registers of three of the inns covered in the volumes have since been published (that of Gray's Inn by Foster himself in 1889, omitting the biographical details).
