Scope and Contents
Includes: statistics of musters, 1588-97; London, orders for discipline, 1589; instructions to Sir Thomas Bodley as envoy to king of Denmark, 1588; instructions to Armagel Waad as envoy to duke of Holstein, 1559 (cf. Calendar of State Papers Foreign 1558-9, p. 217); instructions for musters and for lords lieutenant, with a special article for Norfolk and Lincoln, undated; instructions to Francis Russell, 2nd earl of Bedford, on appointment as lord lieutenant of Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and Exeter, 1559, and as warden of the east marches and governor of Berwick, 1564; statement of price of arms and armour; orders to be observed at Berwick-on-Tweed, 1564; list of ships and their captains commissioned for service, 1635; Charles I's declaration concerning the sailing of the fleet, Greenwich, 14 June 1635.
