George Harbin: Extracts from the Ely Priory Register

Scope and Contents

A series of extracts made by George Harbin from a copy of a register of Ely Priory at the time in the possession of Sir William Wyndham, Bart, 80 folios. The copy was made by Sir W. Wyndham for G. Harbin in October 1735 (see p. 144). The extracts include references to the pages of either the original or to Sir W. Wyndham's copy.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The volume was acquired around 1830 by Sir Thomas Phillipps as part of a collection of manuscripts once in the possession of George Harbin, and became no. 4806 in his library. It was later sold at Sotheby's as part of the Phillipps sale. Purchased by the Library in 1911.

A transcription of the extracts was made by Thomas Baker, and is to be found in Cambridge University Library, Mm.1.49, pp. 197-202.
