Oates, Cambridge University Library, a History from the beginnings to the Copyright Act of Queen Anne (Cambridge, 1986), 344-7. 21 ff+four paper leaves (204 x 154 mm) inserted at end; the leaves foliated 1-25 by Richard Amadas, after the loss of 20 and 21 in the modern numbering.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
On the upper cover in pencil is 'E No 18¦Milton MSS'. Belonged to Samuel Knight DD, prebend of Ely and rector of Bluntisham, Hunts. After Knight's death in 1746, the MS. descended to John Percy Baumgartner of Milton Hall, near Cambridge. Among the papers presented to the Library by Baumgartner, 1859 and 1861; see A catalogue of the Manuscripts Preserved in the Library of the University of Cambridge, 5 vols plus index (Cambridge, 1856-67; reprinted Hildesheim, 1980), V, 1-190.
