Immediate Source of Acquisition

Belonged to Samuel Knight DD, prebend of Ely and rector of Bluntisham, Hunts. After Knight's death in 1746, the MS. descended to John Percy Baumgartner of Milton, Cambs., who presented it to the Library in 1859.

The whole, without notes at p. 440, was published by Charles Marriott of Oriel College, Oxford, in 1839. Also published (without Knight's continuation) in Works of Symon Patrick DD, ed. Alexander Taylor, vol. 9, Oxford, 1858, pp. 407-569. See also pamphlet by C. Taylor (London, 1688) on the opening of the Confessor's tomb (Acton.c.25.1078(6)), and article by L. Tanner, 'The Cross and Chain', Journal of the British Archaeological Assoc., 3rd ser. 15 (1952).
