Scope and Contents

Including copies of letters by George Collop; Seth Ward, bishop of Salisbury; William Sancroft, archbishop of Canterbury; and Daniel Finch, earl of Nottingham. Items dated c. 1665-95. Also including epitaph for John Patrick (d. 1695), list of names of commissioners for reviewing the liturgy (1689), and a receipt signed by John Eachard for sum received from Patrick towards rebuilding of St Catharine's Hall, Cambridge (undated). The 'Life' was not published, but was evidently used in preparing A. Taylor's 1858 edition of Patrick's works. Several items are printed there. fos. 90, 143: blank.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Belonged to Samuel Knight DD, prebend of Ely and rector of Bluntisham, Hunts. After Knight's death in 1746, the MS. descended to John Percy Baumgartner of Milton, Cambs., who presented it to the Library in 1859.
