Frederick Migeod: West African Papers

 Fonds
Reference Code: GBR/0115/RCS/RCMS 139

Scope and Contents

A collection of letter books and manifold books relating to the work of the Gold Coast Transport Department. Some of the manifold books relate to troop movements to and from Togoland in 1914. On donating the collection, Migeod explained the provenance: 'when I retired from the Gold Coast in 1919, the Transport Department of which I was in charge, having founded it in 1901, was closed down as an independent department (only to be resuscitated later) and I brought away a quantity of official correspondence for the purpose of answering enquiries, or because it was personal and confidential' (quoted in RCS 'Library Notes', no. 169, Mar. 1971, p. 1).
