Biographical / Historical
Percy Brooke Bramley was born on 21 April 1867 in India and was privately educated. He joined the Indian Police on 18 July 1888 as officiating Assistant District Superintendent of Police, United Provinces [modern day Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand]. After successive promotions, he became Superintendent in April 1906, and while holding that post was seconded for duty at the Coronation Durbar in Dehli in 1911. Bramley was promoted to Deputy Inspector-General and received the Kaisar-i-Hind Medal, First Class, in June 1912. He retired in June 1916 but later served as Director of Public Security in Palestine from 1921. He died from a sudden illness on 19 February 1925.
