Immediate Source of Acquisition

Accepted in lieu of Inheritance tax by HM Government in 2024 and allocated to Cambridge University Library.

Two printed books were received as part of the same accession: Rudyard Kipling, 'Schoolboy Lyrics' (Lahore, 1881), the title page signed by Kipling and inscribed ‘To A. P. Watt from Caroline Kipling. 1901’ and with a letter of August 15 1901 (dictated but signed) by Caroline Kipling sending this copy of Watt (Syn.7.88.174); and Rudyard Kipling, 'Departmental Ditties and other Verses' (Lahore, [1886], with a note from Edith R. Chichele Plowden about selling this copy to A. S. Watt (Syn.4.88.308).
