The gift of the papers to the Library was confirmed by Jardine Henderson Ltd in March 1981. JS/10 and JS/11 were prepared by Mr E.A. Paterson, Saxmundham, Suffolk, with a view to writing a history of Jardine Skinner & Co. In 1955 Mr Paterson had in his possession the originals of volumes 93-98, which are now missing from the series JS/1 (a letter was sighted at Fareham, 11 November 1980). Since the typescripts include extracts from other missing volumes from this series, it seems likely that these too were removed by Mr Paterson.
