Scope and Contents
An indenture of 4 parts between Elizabeth Morley, a poor girl of about 15, educated at the Charity School, Babraham, of the 1st part, Henry John Adeane, lord of the Manor of Babraham of the 2nd part, the Rev. William Holme, of Emmanual College, Camb., Minister of the parish of Babraham, Jonas Webb the churchwarden and H.J. Adeane and Thomas Tofts, overseers of the 3rd part, and [Miss] Ann Mitchell, mantua-maker, of Little Shelford, Cambs., of the 4th part. Elizabeth Morley is bound as apprentice to Ann Mitchell for 3 years, to learn the trade, and A. Mitchell for $25, paid from the Charity, is to feed, clothe, house, and teach her. Signed by all parties, H.J. Adeane twice in his 2 capacities. Witnessed by Fras. Clay. Seven seals attached. Ann Mitchell signs receipt on back for the £25.
