Scope and Contents

Mary Bangs, of Castle Camps, Cambs., widow, did out of court surrender into the hands of the Lords of the paid Manor, by the hands and acceptance of John Pretious and James Barker ... All that customary messuage ... called Castle Camps Green, abutting on the said Green West, the pasture belonging to the Charterhouse East, adjoining a tenement of Mary Bangs North and a tenement of Elizabeth Riche South, with all appurtenances. The same is now in the tenure of Thomas Stubbing and William Baines ... And the reversion, reminder etc. whatsoever of Mary Bangs ... to the only proper use and [behoof?] of Barnaby Pettit of Shudy Camps ... yeoman, and his heirs ... Provided that if Mary Bangs or her heirs etc. do pay to the said Barnaby Pettit etc. the sum of £27 ... with lawful interest upon 29th July next, without any deduction ... or delay. Then the above written surrender to be void, otherwise to remain in full force. Signed by Mary Bangs. Taken and accepted by John Pretious and James Barker. Witness: Thomas Hall Fiske. Overleaf: Mary Bangs signs receipt for £27 from Barnaby Pettit. Witness: Thomas Hall Fiske (same date). Endorsed as a copy, the original delivered to John Pretious with 2/6.
