William Cartright, of Aynhoe, Northants, executor of will of Thomas Cartwright, also of Aynhoe, acknowledges receipt of £10732.1.0 from Dr. Thomas Secker, Bp. of Oxford, and Dr. Zachary Pearse, Bp. of Rochester, executors of Elizabeth Lane, of Woodbury, Cambs, widow, deceased, and one of the executors of Ralph Land, late of Woodbury and of Glendon, Northants. This sum was the amount of so much of the residue of the personal estate of R.L. as came to Eliz. Lane vested in the Public Funds, of improvement by dividends, in part of the principal sum of £14,000 secured by mortgage made by R.L. of his estate in Cambs to Thomas Cartwright, deceased, by indenture of lease and release dated 14th or 15th June 1726 ... payable within 1 month after the deceases of the said R.L. and E.L. Signed William Cartwright. Witness: Frank Elles. Inside is the receipt for various articles of plate and silver received from T. Secker, Bp. of Oxford and Z. Pearse, Bp. of Bangor, executors of Mrs. Eliz. Lane, signed by George Lane Parker, grandson of Mrs. E. Lane.
