Scope and Contents

Thomas Eaton of Bulmer, Essex, and Mary his wife sell to John Willet of Cambridge certain land in the above parishes for the term of one thousand years at a peppercorn rent subject to redemption; Thomas Eaton and Mary his wife agree to levy a fine to Thomas Cheetham of Cambridge and his heirs of the land in question to be to the use of John Willet for the term of one thousand years, on the determination to the use of Thomas Eaton and George Sully of Cambridge and their heirs to the use of Thomas Eaton and George Sully and the heirs of Thomas Eaton for ever; if Thomas Eaton pays a certain sum by a certain date the agreement together with a certain surrender of lands held from the Manor of Swaffham Prior is to be void. An Annuity payable to Ellen Frost, sister to Thomas Eaton, under the will of her mother Elizabeth Eaton is excepted. Witnesses: (for Thomas and Mary Eaton) James Day, Charles Day; (for George Sully) B. W. Higgins; (for Thomas Cheetham) James Day. On the back is a receipt for the consideration money signed by Thomas Eaton. Date: the same. Witnesses: James Day, Charles Day. Parts of four seals are attached.

Purchased from John Whitaker, Cambridge (from Hove, Sussex) 13 August 1917 (With this cf Add 5958(14), the original of which was bought from E. Williams, 37 New Town, Hove, Sussex. Mr Whitaker's lot from Hove presumably came from the same vendor.
