For his homage and service, Warin Banast'e confirms his gift to his chamberlain and sergeant, Robert, of specified lands with rights of common pasture in and around Waletona [probably Walton-le-Dale, Lancashire], partly bounded by the Derewente [River Darwen?]. Reserving annual quit-rent of one pound of cumins ['unam libram cimini'] for all services. Malediction clause. Witnessed by Thurstan Banast'e, Randulf son of Roger de Maresaie, Robert clerk his brother, Robert Banast'e, Henry de ?Honef', Walter de Wine[-?], William Banast'e, Adam de Harwde [sic], Henry de Blakeb', Richard de ?Pereyunt, John Albus, William clerk 'qui hanc cartam scripsit', and many others. Tag and seal wanting. Endorsed in a later hand: 'War' Banast''.
