Gift of land, Wimpole and Kingston, Cambridgeshire
Scope and Contents
William le Ward of Wynpol [Wimpole, Cambridgeshire] confirms his gift to Walter de Coulyng' and to Walter's heirs and assigns, three selions arable land lying in the fields of Wimpole. One selion is a headland [forera] in the field of Kynguston [Kingston, Cambridgeshire], next to land of Master War[in] de Bassi[n]gb[ourn] abutting on the highway to Kingston at one end and on land of Robert le Chauf at the other. The other two selions lie against 'le Morh' between land of Adam in le morh and land which John Makeles holds in fee from Warin de Bassingbourn, abutting on Wynpol Wey. At Wimpole, deed poll, witnessed by Lawrence de Wratteworth, Geoffrey de Coulynge, Walter de Benewelle, John de Wendlesor, Robert le Chauf, and others. Tag, seal wanting. Endorsed in two sixteenth- or seventeenth-century hands: 'xviii E 3 / pro terris in Wimple'.
