Scope and Contents
Clement Clerk, gent, and Henry Horneby, clerk, quitclaim to John and Agnes Serle, Alan Wellys of Cambridge, Thomas Adam of [Saffron] Walden, Thomas Caron of Newmarket, Thomas Nelson of Ware, and to William Waryn of Wyndesore [Windsor], to the use of John Serle, his heirs and assigns, all their right and claim in a tenement with appurtenances in the parish of St Mary, next the market place in Cambridge, between (to the north) a tenement of the prior and convent of St Etheldreda, Ely, now in the tenure of David Ryveley, and (to the south) a tenement late of John Woode, gent, now of John Botiler alias Barbour, the eastern end abutting upon the market cross. Serle and the others hold the property by the gift of Thomas Clerk, gent. Deed poll, signed by Clerk and Horneby, seals wanting. Endorsed in several hands: 'A Release from Clarke / and others to Serle and others / vi No. Ao H 7 19', 'St Mary's Cambs', '3', 'nil', 'Cambridge No 20'. Further endorsed with the 'cross-in-circle' mark of Sir Edward Dering.
