Scope and Contents
William, prior of Anglesh' [Anglesey Priory, Cambridgeshire] and the convent there confirm that they are bound to pay Master Richard, rector of the church of Meldeburne [Melbourn, Cambridgeshire] an annuity of 20 marks for life, in respect of land at Berle [Barley, Hertfordshire] and Haselingefeud [Haslingfield, Cambridgeshire], with associated rents. Following his decease - or during his life should he wish it - they further agree to maintain a secular chapel to pray for his soul, the soul of Hugh, bishop of Ely, and for the souls of benefactors. Particulars of assigned sustenance for the chapel, and regulations governing same. Deed poll, witnessed by Master Richard de Kyrham rector of Swaffham, Richard rector of the church of Little Wy[lb'g'ha'], John vicar of Bodek'ha', Thomas of York chaplain, Luke of Fordham chaplain, William de Taylli, Hugh Brite of Melbourn, William de Brinkel', and others. Two tags, one with trace of green seal. Pendant common seal of Anglesey Priory detatched. Endorsed in an eighteenth-century hand: 'Anglesey. Cambridgeshire / Hugo Norwold Ep. Elyons. etc', and in a modern hand: '34 / 1954'. Further endorsed: '+???special mark???'. Trace of former mounting on card.
