Scope and Contents
In 1843, Robert Negus conveyed to John Hodson, formerly of Upwell, Cambridgeshire, farmer, and now of Wisbech St Peters, Cambridgeshire, his life interest in 17 acres 'fen or marsh ground' in Cranemoor, Manea, Cambridgeshire, to secure #188 advanced him by Hanslip Palmer of Upwell, gent (Doc 3774, 3775). All interest has been paid to date. In consideration of #50, Hodson now mortgages to Palmer his title in the said property together with an existing insurance policy on the life of Negus as further security for the #50. Indenture, signed and sealed by Hodson, witnessed by Samuel Archer; duty stamps. Endorsed with receipt for consideration money, same date and signatures. Parchment supplied by Thomas Lloyd of Holborn, engraving by Silvester of The Strand.
