Scope and Contents

By his will dated 21 Mar 1838, John Dawson of Fulbourn, Cambridgeshire, gave direction that the bulk of his real estate should be sold by his sons George Dawson of Little Shelford, Cambridgeshire, grocer, and William Dawson of Burwell, Cambridgeshire, grocer and draper (1st parties), and that the proceeds, together with the bulk of his personal estate, should be divided among his children: the 1st parties, together with Charles Dawson of Fulbourn, cooper, Thomas Dawson of Fulbourn, wheelwright, and Elizabeth Dawson of Fulbourn, widow of his son John (2nd parties). John Dawson died in 1841, and since all parties are agreed that a freehold 'allotment' of 4+ acres in Fulbourn should stay within the family, it is now conveyed to Christopher Pemberton esq of Cambridge (4th party) in trust for the said William Dawson (also 3rd party) in consideration of #200 paid by William to his siblings. Four-part indenture of 2 membranes, signed and sealed by the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd parties, witnessed by William ?Thrower of Cambridge, solicitor; duty stamps. Endorsed with receipt for consideration money, signed by George Dawson and witnessed by Thrower. Parchment provided by John Northcroft of Chancery Lane.
