Scope and Contents

In 1791, in consideration of #12 12s, Ebenezer Rutt of Fulbourn, Cambridgeshire, yeoman, devizee in fee named in the will of his late aunt, Elizabeth Rutt of Fulbourn, widow, mortgaged (in the form of a 1,000-year lease at a peppercorn rent) to Mary Jackson of Cambridge, spinster, an acre of arable land in Crossway Field, Fulbourn. He now releases the same property to Jackson in order to settle the capital debt owed. Indentures, lease (for one year at peppercorn rent) and release both signed and sealed by Rutt, and witnessed by Charles Dawson and Ed[ward] Randall; duty stamps. Parchment supplied by the Stationery Office in Palace Yard [Westminster]. With three related documents: i) afore-mentioned mortgage of same property, 9 May 1791, signed and sealed by Rutt, witnessed by John ?Bowes and Charles Caesar, with receipt for consideration money; duty stamps; on paper; ii) bond and obligation by Rutt to Jackson in #25 4s to repay #12 12s, dated 9 May 1791, witnessed by Bowes and Caesar; duty stamps, slightly torn; iii) certified extract from the will of Elizabeth Rutt, examined by Robert White, deputy registrar, archdeaconry of Ely; duty stamps. Witnessed by Caesar.
