Scope and Contents
Recites Doc 3753. Joseph Matthews died in 1830, leaving all his estate to his wife Amelia Rebecca Matthews of Barnstaple, Devon, for her life, reversion to his only son the Revd Henry Usher Matthews of Barnstaple. His wife, together with Charles James Metcalfe esq, of Roxton House, Bedfordshire, and Ebenezer Herne of King St, Finsbury Square, London, gent, are named as executors. Since default was made on Doc 3753, the executors have sold off the premises therein described in lots. Andrew John Tempany of Barnwell, paper stainer, has purchased a minor part of the land, and Henry Usher Matthews and his father's executors now covenant to produce relevant leases upon request from Tempany. Indenture, signed and sealed by Amelia and Henry Matthews, no witness. Schedule of four deeds 1815-28 at foot. Endorsed: 'Dated August 1841 [sic]'.
