Scope and Contents
Humphrey Sumner, Provost of King's College, Cambridge, bequeaths to his nephews, the Reverend Sumner Smith of Lyndhurst, Hampshire, and the Reverend John Bird Sumner of Eton, Buckinghamshire [later Archbishop of Canterbury] certain stock; to his sister Ann Sumner the residue of his stock; certain personal goods to Sumner Smith, certain personal goods to Ann Sumner and John Bird Sumner, certain books to John Bird Sumner, his Bible to the Library of King's College, to his nephew Charles Richard Sumner of Trinity College, certain books, to Ann Sumner certain books, to Mrs Sarah Stackhouse, wife of the Reverend - Stackhouse of Mattbury, Devon, certain jewelry (sic), to his late servant Thomas Saunders certain goods, to Robert Slade his servant, if with him at his death, certain goods, the residue to Ann Sumner; he appoints Ann Sumner, Sumner Smith and John Bird Sumner executrix and executors. Witnesses: Robert Gee, Samuel Peed.
