Scope and Contents

On 8 Oct 1713, in consideration of #100, Martha Love, late of Cambridge, widow, mortgaged (on the security of a 1,000-year lease at a peppercorn rent) to William Carter of Cambridge, watch-maker (1st party), her several messuages in the parishes of St Clement and All Saints, Cambridge, then occupied by Love, William Dale, John Yorke, Joseph Chapman, the Widow Rowland, Henry King, Sarah Pettit, widow, Richard Walton, Stephen Merrill, Mr Dean, and Cornelius Austin. In consideration of #104 13s (representing the principal and interest money due upon the mortgage), Carter now assigns the residue of the lease to Richard Walton of Cambridge, innkeeper (3rd party) as trustee for Cornelius Austin of Cambridge, joiner (2nd party), and his heirs. Tripartite indenture, signed and sealed by Carter and Austin, witnessed by William Finch and Henry King, duty stamps. Endorsed with receipt for the consideration money, same date and witnesses.
