Indenture of apprenticeship, Royston, Hertfordshire
Scope and Contents
John Taylor, churchwarden of the parish of Royston, Cambridgeshire (sic), and Robert Stamford, overseer of the poor in the same parish, apprentice James Phillips in 'the art or mistery of husbandry' to Mary Fairchild of Wimpole, Cambridgeshire. Completed printed indenture, signed and sealed by Mary Fairchild, witnessed by John ?Steves or Stebes (his mark), John ?Iacling (his mark), and by the Cambridgeshire JPs W Pigott and William Eversden, duty stamp. Printed form sold by J Lenthall at the Talbot, Mitre Tavern, St Dunstan's Church, Fleet St. Endorsed with Fairchild's receipt for the #9 consideration money, same date. Further endorsed: 'Ja: Philips / Indenter'.
