Scope and Contents

Whereas the Mayor, Bailiffs and Burgesses of Cambridge by Indenture dated 23 December 1777 let to John Anderson of Cambridge certain mills and land in Cambridge and a certain mill in Barnwell, regulating the times and conditions of grinding in other neighbouring mills and giving preference to the mills in question, for a term of fourteen years with a proviso that the lessee might not alienate without written licence; and whereas John Anderson is dead and his will proved by his wife Mary Anderson who is appointed executrix, she being entitled to the remainder of the term; The Mayor, Bailiffs and Burgesses grant to Mary Anderson licence to assign the lease to William Sadler of Cambridge.
