Scope and Contents

Whereas by a Decree dated 15 October 1729, based on an Inquisition by a Commission of the Court of Chancery, it was decreed that Francis Hopkins of Cambridge and Robert Johnson of the same should make a conveyance of a certain rent charge to the use of themselves, William Finch the elder of Cambridge and Edmond Jeffrey of the same and their heirs to the uses mentioned in the decree; and whereas by Indenture dated 30 October 1729 Francis Hopkins and Robert Johnson sold to William Finch senior and Edmond Jeffrey and their heirs the rent charge from certain land at Barnwell to the use of Francis Hopkins, Robert Johnson, William Finch senior, and Edmond Jeffrey and their heirs to the uses declared in the decree; and whereas William Finch senior and Edmond Jeffrey are both dead; in order that the rent charge may be applied to the specified uses Francis Hopkins and Robert Johnson release to William Finch of Cambridge and Robert Tall of the same and their heirs the rent charge in question to the use of Francis Hopkins, Robert Johnson, William Finch and Robert Tall to the uses declared in the decree. Witnesses: Joseph Finch, servant to Mr Finch, William Cropley of Cambridge. Four seals are attached.
