Scope and Contents
A collection of loose photographs, most mounted on card and measuring approximately 220 x 165 mm. By various photographers on behalf of official government agencies and commercial organisations (mainly the Public Relations office, Suva and BOAC). Many of the Public Relations Office photographs are personally credited to Rob Wright. The pictures have detailed typewritten captions either on the mount or attached to the reverse of the print. They give a fairly comprehensive depiction of Fijian life and scenery, and the collection is roughly organised into categories which break down thus:
1-53 Geography: towns, villages and islands
54-65 Transport: aircraft, shipping and boats
66-81 Village life: houses, fishing, weaving, pottery making
82-99 Traditional feasts, festivals and dancing
100-139 Agriculture: sugar, copra, bananas, rice
140-166 Technology: medicine, broadcasting, education
167-177 Fijian types
178-186 Ceremonial: Royal visits, official inspections
