Scope and Contents
On 23 Jan 1760, Zachariah Mart of Cambridge, gent, mortgaged (in the form of a lease for 1,000 years at peppercorn rent) a tenement, which he currently occupies, in Preachers Street, parish of St Andrew the Great, Cambridge, to John Whittred of Cambridge, butcher, in return for #100. On the same security and terms, he now borrows a further #50 from Whittred, nominal repayment date being 26 Apr 1762. Signed and sealed by both parties, witnessed by Thomas Wilson and John Smith, duty stamp. Endorsed with receipt for consideration money, same date and witnesses. Also endorsed: '6'.
