Scope and Contents

In consideration of #80, Henry Wilks of Ely, miller, conveys his c2 acres fen or marsh ground in Cow Crofts, Witcham, number 65 in the 'Map and Lot Book relating to the Littleport and Downham District', to William Nix of Chatteris, gent. Reversion during lifetime of purchaser to William Say esq of Downham Market. Lease (for one year at peppercorn rent) signed and sealed by Henry Wilks, witnessed by L Dench and James Dench, duty stamp. Release in form of tripartite indenture, similarly signed and witnessed, duty stamps. Release endorsed with receipt for the consideration money, same date, same signatures. Further endorsed: 'Viz Ezekiel Tall's Cow Croft / No 65 on Littleport and Downham District Map / and No 77 on Lenny's Eau Brink Map'. Form of indenture supplied by John Smith of Long Acre, parchment-dealer, and Silvester and Co of The Strand, engravers.
