Scope and Contents
Certifying that in his will dated 7 Oct 1679 the late George Reade (snr) bequeathed his eight acres of meadow ground in Old Hayes or Old Halse, manor of Chatteris Ramsey to his son Joseph Reade. Joseph having already been admitted to some of the property in question, he is now granted possession of a further quarter. Copy of court roll, examined by the steward; Malbon Carrill gent and Hannah Carrill, widow, being lords of the manor. The court was held before the deputy steward John Cra[m?] gent, at the Wood House? in Chatteris. Endorsed (by Cram or by the chief steward Robert Clarke?) 'Joseph Reade' and 'qu' coppy to him and his wife Mary 12 yeares agoe'.
