Scope and Contents

Correspondence regarding star catalogues, including requests for copies of catalogues and of information from them, and correspondence with other observatory astronomers drawing attention to errors:

Miscellaneous correspondence, 1917-1926, including correspondence with the Harvard College Observatory regarding Pickering's catalogue, the preparation of the Royal Observatory's 1910 catalogue and the reduction of the Paramatta catalogue. There is also a copy of Dyson's 'Analysis of the Proper Motions of the Reference Stars in the Greenwich Astrographic Catalogue', 1920; a list of selected area standards for meridian observatories, 1922; a list of abbreviations for the names of constellations; correspondence relating to Eros comparison stars; and the rough draft and parts of the final typed copy of a biography of Sir W.H.M. Christie.

Miscellaneous correspondence, 1927-1934, including letters regarding the preparation of a new working catalogue for the transit circle; general enquiries, such as a request for a copy of the latest star catalogues; and a copy of the draft for the 'Catalogue of Fundamental Declinations of 1631 stars for 1915.0' by N. Dneprovsky of the Pulkovo Observatory.
