Biographical / Historical
This body was established in 1919, and reconstituted as the Senior Tutors' Committee in 1992, to provide a forum for the interaction of the Senior Tutors of each College with other intercollegiate committees and representatives of the University central administration. Its interests extended to student admissions, particularly entrance scholarship examinations in the period up to the 1960s, maintenance grants, teaching, and welfare. With the establishment of the Admissions Forum in 1987, it lost its primary responsibility for admissions matters and was thereafter mainly interested in coordinating educational policy and in student welfare and finance.
