Scope and Contents

Correspondence with various scientific societies, with related papers. There are notices, agendas, addresses and reports for the British Association, British Horological Institute, Manchester Literary and Philosophical Society, and Tyneside Naturalist Field Club; a report of the Kew Committee for the British Association; reports from the 'South Australian Weekly Chronicle' on the Institution of Naval Architects and the South Australian Institute; Airy's thoughts on a burst high-pressure steam boiler; and the programme of the Batavian Society, Rotterdam. The correspondents include Lord Wrottesley, J. Glaisher, W.M. Rankine, J. Phillips and W. De La Rue.
