Biographical / Historical
The publication 'Astronomical Phenomena' contains preprints of selected phenomena data from the 'Astronomical Almanac'. The editions began with 'Astronomical Phenomena for the year 1951', which was produced by the Nautical Almanac Office, United States Naval Observatory. The U.S.N.O. was responsible for the series up to the 1980 edition, after which it was produced jointly with H.M. Nautical Almanac Office.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
The volumes were received from H.M. Nautical Almanac Office and the Royal Greenwich Observatory. Some of the editions were transferred from RGO 33 on 10 January 2007. Details of specific accessions are included in the catalogue where they are known.
