Mere's House deeds and related papers, 1290 - 1898
Scope and Contents
In 1625, Mere's House and garden in St Edward's and St Benet's parishes, Cambridge, were conveyed to the Lady Margaret's Reader and his successors by Mrs Alice Davers, widow of Jeremy Davers MA. John Mere of King's College proceeded BA 1526 and MA 1529. In 1544, he became a member of Corpus Christi College. He was an Esquire Bedell and Registrary 1543-58, in which year he died. The property was originally part of the site of the Austin Friars. By the mid 19th century, part of the site was occupied by the Bath Hotel. This was sold in 1898.
