Scope and Contents
240 x 191 mm. A view showing part of the Pink Terrace Cascade. ‘Its terraces, formed of a peculiar pink-coloured siliceous deposit, extend by gentle descents, one below the other, down to the edge of the lake… ‘Rotomahana and the Boiling Springs of New Zealand’ by D.L. Mundy and F. Von Hochstetter (Sampson Low, London 1875). The terraces were destroyed in the volcanic eruption of 1886, for more details of which, and a photograph of the collapsed terraces, see 308A/131.
