Reference Code: GBR/0115/RCS/Y308B/93

Scope and Contents

209 x 111 mm. A view looking across Lambton Harbour with Mt Victoria in the background. This picture was taken in January 1870 by James Bragge and forms part of a panorama of the city continued in Plates 95 and 97. The ships in the harbour are part of the squadron commanded by Rear-Admiral Hornby, sent to take part in the celebration of Wellington’s 30th Anniversary. Unfortunately the ships arrived a day too late. This picture was taken from Wadestown Road, with part of Tinakori Road just visible in the foreground. (Much of the information on Bragge’s photographs, plates 93-98, was gained from ‘Bragge’s Wellington and Wairarapa’ by William Main).
