Scrapbook relating to the Portland vase, c.1868-1875
Scope and Contents
Bound folio volume, or 'scrapbook', of letters and newspaper cuttings assembled by Reginald Darwin. Comprises newspaper cuttings about the sale of different copies, correspondence about the vase, and various booklets and pamphlets relating to the Portland vase. Includes a bound set of four published plates illustrating the vase. The Portland vase here relates to the ceramic copy made by Charles Darwin's grandfather, Josiah Wedgwood, of the Portland Vase in the British Museum. The Wedgwood copy is held at the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge.
