William Thompson of Ely, bricklayer, Jonas [?], bricklayer, Robert Young of Ely, yeoman, and John Rayner senior of Ely, yeoman, answered Samuel Wright in an action of trespass that on 20 July 1693 they broke into Wright’s house at Ely and took and carried away a copper, copper lids, iron instruments, a vat, a cooler, two barrels, a jet, a hop basket and other brewing paraphernalia. Pled not guilty; to proceed to jury trial. [This entry is on the outer membrane of the roll and is quite dirty; the text is a little difficult to read in places.]
