Scope and Contents
This volume comprises individual leaves from 'Origin of species' as printed in 1859, leaves from the first draft of 'The descent of man', particularly chapters 1, 4, 6 and 11 and one page from 'The power of movement in plants'.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
DAR 157 comes from a number of sources. DAR 157: 41 purchased from Phillips in November 1991. DAR 157: 42-43 puchased from Bernard Quaritch Ltd. in April 1992. DAR 157/1 and 157/2 presented by the Botanic Gardens Syndicate on 21 February 1961. DAR 157a was a gift from Peter Gautrey in 1942, brought to the UL from Down House in the 1970s.
