This section of the volume comprises material gathered by Francis Darwin about his father, Charles Darwin, relevant to the 1887 publication 'Life and letters of Charles Darwin'. This includes notes, corrections to the text of 'Life and letters' and letters from various correspondents to Francis Darwin. Together with Charles Darwin's notes on plant variation, annotated 'Notes on Plants in Spirits cases of variability etc'.
