  1. 1r. Anthony Slade of King’s Lynn, Norfolk, merchant, is bound to answer Thomas Tuck in an action of trespass on the case. John [N] senior, gentleman, and Richard Cassell of Wisbech, yeoman, act as surety.
  2. 1r. John Fidling of Tydd St Mary, Lincolnshire, butcher, is bound to answer Peter Child in an action of trespass on the case. John Boyse of Wisbech, linen draper, and Thomas Lark of Wisbech, fellmonger, act as surety.
  3. 1r. William Bradford of Spalding, Lincolnshire, husbandman, is bound to answer Erasino Peeters in an action of trespass on the case. Thomas Cock of Wisbech, woollen draper, and Thomas Woodcroft of Tydd St Giles, husbandman, act as surety.

  6. 1v. John Neale of Wisbech, grocer, answered William Fisher in an action of trespass on the case that on 1 May 1661 he publicly slandered William by saying that [Sarah Fisher] was a rogue whose fittest place was in the pillory. Neale fined; to pay damages.

James Whinnell of Wisbech, yeoman, and Joseph Cole of Littleport, yeoman, answered the Dean and Chapter of Ely Cathedral in an action of trespass on the case relating to the possession of three gilded silver plates to the value of 15 pounds, two silver cups to the value of 15 pounds, two silver [maces] to the value of 12 pounds, 20 yards of altar hangings embroidered with gold to the value of 100 pounds, and one basin and ewer worth 12 pounds, 21 Aug. 1661 at March. Guilty; [?to pay damages].

  13. 4v. Richard Browne of Tydd St Giles, husbandman, answered John Snowe in an action of trespass that between 20 Sept. 1659 and 2 Feb. [1660] his livestock trampled and overgrazed the grass growing in Snowe’s close at Tydd St Giles causing damage. Pled not guilty; to proceed to jury trial.
  14. 4v. Memorandum that Nicholas Sanford per his attorney brought a bill before the court against William Hunston of Wisbech, gentleman, in an action of debt of 20 pounds relating to a bond of obligation of 3 Nov. 1660 at Elm. Hunston fined; to pay costs and damages.
  15. 5r. John Deekes of Welney in the parish of Upwell, husbandman, answered Margaret Gates in an action of trespass on the case relating to the sum of 50 shillings [for her service], 8 Aug. 1559 at Wisbech. Deekes fined; to pay costs and damages.
  16. 5r. John Stringer of Wisbech, butcher, is summoned to answer Francis Deanes in an action of debt of 40 pounds according to a bond of obligation of 3 Nov. 1661 at Elm. Stringer fined; to pay costs and damages.

  18. 5v. John Ellys of Tydd St Giles, yeoman, answered Richard Browne in an action of trespass on the case relating to the delivery of a black-brown horse to the value of 12 pounds, 20 July 1661 at Wisbech. Ellys acquitted.

Agnes Southold of March, widow, and Edmund Southold of March, yeoman and executor of the will of Edmund Southold senior, answered Thomas Walsham, gentleman, and William Walsham, executor of the will of Anthony Walsham, in an action of trespass on the case relating to a sum of 50 pounds loaned by Walsham to Southold, 1 Apr. 1657 at Wisbech. Agnes and Edmund fined; to pay costs and damages.
  20. 6v. William Beesley of Ely, yeoman, answered Thomas Baxter in an action of trespass on the case that on 26 July 1661 he slandered Baxter by publicly calling him a thief who had stolen his Bible. Damages to be assessed.
  21. 7r. Thomas Balls of Welney, yeoman, answered John Pettitt in an action of trespass on the case relating to the sale and supply, with a certain Robert Breese, of 14 pounds of water hemp, full weight, sound and dry, to be delivered to the market cross at Wisbech, 2 May 1661 at Wisbech. Balls fined; to pay costs and damages.
  22. 7r. Thomas Baxter of Ely, boat-wright, answered William Beesely in an action of trespass that, together with William Marrit of Ely, yeoman, and Robert Mantle of Ely, gardener, they entered the close of Beesely in Ely, lying near the royal highway, trampled the grass growing there with their feet, and took and carried away a Bible worth 30 shillings. The entry is incomplete; no outcome is stated.
  23. 8r. Henry Meadow of Wisbech answered John Marshall, gentleman, in an action of trespass on the case relating to the sale and supply of a quantity of onions, 1 Dec. 1660 at Wisbech. Meadow acquitted.
  24. 8r. William Spencer of Wisbech, gentleman, answered John Marshall, gentleman, in an action of trespass on the case relating to the sale and supply of a number of kilderkins of strong beer on various occasions in 1657 and 1658. Pled not guilty; to proceed to jury trial.
  25. 9r. William Whin of Mepal, yeoman, is summoned to answer Jordan East in an action of debt of ten pounds according to a bond of obligation of 10 June 1659 at Haddenham. Whin fined; to pay costs and damages.

Roger Bradshawe of Wisbech, pipe maker, answered Thomas Tisedale in an action of trespass and ejection that on 19 Aug. 1661 he ejected Tisedale from two rods of arable land with edifices and appurtenances in Tydd St Giles that Thomas Woodcrofte had leased to Tisedale for a term which had not yet expired. Bradshawe arrested; to pay costs and damages.
  27. 9r. Robert Coward of Wisbech, butcher, is summoned to answer Samuel Fiddeman in an action of debt of six pounds relating to a bill of obligation of 24 Oct. 1660 at Elm. Coward fined; to pay costs and damages.
  28. 9v. William Bunten of Leverington, bricklayer, is summoned to answer Robert Welby, gentleman, in an action of debt of 42 pounds relating to a bond of obligation of 15 July 1557 at Elm. Bunten fined; to pay costs and damages.
  29. 9v. John Stringer of Wisbech, butcher, answered Thomas Falkner in an action of trespass that on 1 Oct. 1660 he broke and entered into Falkner’s house in Wisbech. Damages to be assessed.
  30. 9v. Richard Lincolne of Thetford, Norfolk, gentleman, answered Thomas Walker in an action of debt of 100 pounds relating to a bond of obligation of 15 Apr. 1559 at Wisbech. Lincolne fined; to pay costs and damages.

  34. 10v. Robert Miles of Ely, labourer, answered Matthew Collup in an action of trespass on the case relating to the sum of 40 shillings and the sale and supply of saddle, 18 Aug. 1660 at Wisbech. Damages to be assessed.
  35. 11r. John Stringer of Sutton, butcher, answered John Stringer [?junior] in an action of debt of nine pounds, 13 shillings and four pence relating to the sale of three heifers. John Stringer, butcher, fined; to pay costs and damages.
  36. 11r. Samuel Fosse of Wisbech, oatbreaker, is summoned to answer Thomas Lowe in an action of debt of 40 pounds relating to a bond of obligation of 7 Apr. 1658 at Wisbech. Fosse fined; to pay costs and damages.
  37. 11r. Thomas Johnson of Stretham, yeoman, and Richard Bent of Stretham, baker, answered Edward Howard in an action of trespass that with Robert Langford of Stretham, husbandman, they drove or chased seven of Howard’s cows causing one to die. Pled not guilty; to proceed to jury trial.
  38. 11v. Philipp Girlinge [place of abode and occupation not stated] is summoned to answer Thomas Tisedale in an action that he took and impounded [or enclosed] a sheep worth six pounds at the common highway in Tydd St Giles. To proceed to jury trial.
  39. 11v. George White of Tydd St Giles, husbandman, answered John Stringer in an action of trespass on the case and breach of promise relating to a debt of three pounds and 16 shillings for or relating to [parcels or pieces] of meat. White fined; to pay costs and damages.
