Letter from Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker to Charles Robert Darwin; written at Kew; in encl Per DCP: Letter no. 799 = DAR 100: 29–31 I enclose a copy of the part of Gardners Ceylon letter [George Gardner was superintendent of the botanic gardens, Ceylon, in 1844] mentioning the Europæan plants on the Mts.— A copy of part of Gardner’s letter made by Hooker is in DAR 74: 141, accompanied by CD’s notes on Gardner 1846. The copied excerpt describes European species on the mountains of Ceylon.
