By Parliamentary ordinance, Harrison had been appointed treasurer for a troop of horse raised under the command of Colonel John Hobart for the guard and safety of the Isle of Ely by reason of the disturbances at the time, for which a sum of 1820 pounds was to be used for paying and entertaining the troop.
