  1. 1r. Mary Nicholson of Ely, widow, answered William Sibley in an action of trespass and ejection that on 26 Aug. 1629 she ejected Sibley from a messuage with appurtenances in Ely which Edward Sibley had leased to William. Nicholson acquitted; Sibley fined for bringing a false claim.
  2. 1r. Robert Bell of Ely, tailor, answered Edward Sibley in an action of trespass that between 20 Apr. 1639 and 3 Aug. following his livestock trampled and overgrazed the grass growing in Sibley’s close at Ely causing damage. Pled not guilty; to proceed to jury trial.
  3. 1v. John Shipp of Walsoken, Norfolk, yeoman, answered William Bickeringe in an action of trespass and assault that on 16 May 1629 he assaulted Bickeringe at Wisbech. Pled not guilty; to proceed to jury trial.
  4. 2r. William Shepard of Wisbech, tanner, answered Robert Ryder in an action of trespass on the case relating to the sale and supply of 22 coombs of malt, 4 July 1629 at Wisbech. Fined; to pay costs and damages.
  5. 2r. William Rossell of Wisbech, weaver, answered William Wilkin in an action of trespass that his livestock trampled and overgrazed the grass growing in Wilkin’s close, the churchyard of Wisbech St Peter’s, between 1 June 1628 and 30 July following. Pled not guilty; to proceed to jury trial.
  6. 2v. John Clarke of Ely, waterman, answered Robert Olyer, gentleman, in an action of trespass on the case relating to the sum of four pounds and five shillings for five chalders of sea coals [measured] from King’s Lynn to the waterside at Ely, 10 Oct. 1628. Pled not guilty; to proceed to jury trial.
  7. 2v. John Clarke of Ely, waterman, answered Robert Ayer, gentleman, in an action of trespass on the case relating to the sale and supply of 7000 tiles, 20 Apr. 1627 at Ely. Pled not guilty; to proceed to jury trial.
  8. 2v. Richard Carter of Chettisham, yeoman, answered Robert Ayer, gentleman, in an action of trespass on the case relating to the sum of 33 shillings and two pence for a pair of shod cart wheels with iron boxes, 18 June 1629 at Ely. Pled not guilty; to proceed to jury trial.
  9. 3r. Thomas Neale of March, innkeeper, answered Paul Prestland, cleric, in an action of trespass that his livestock trampled and overgrazed the grass growing in Prestland’s close near the royal highway facing the church at March, and that he took and carried away five cart-loads of timber and ten cart-loads of wood, between 1 Aug. 1624 and 1 June following. Pled not guilty; to proceed to jury trial.
  10. 3r. William Pigott of Ely, brick maker, answered Robert Ayers in an action of trespass relating to Stephen Dawkins, the servant of Robert Ayers, and his employment, 20 July 1629 at Ely. Pled not guilty; to proceed to jury trial.
  11. 3v. Richard Everell of Wisbech, labourer, answered William Phillipps in an action of trespass on the case that on 1 Aug. 1629 he slandered Phillipps at Wisbech by publicly saying, ‘You stole a tub and brought it from Peterborough’. Pled not guilty; to proceed to jury trial.
  12. 3v. John Richall of Wisbech, yeoman, answered William Wylkin, Bailiff of the Hundred of Wisbech, in an action of trespass on the case that on 30 July 1629 he slandered Wylkin at Wisbech by publicly saying, ‘You are a rogue and a foresworn rogue’. Pled not guilty; to proceed to jury trial.
  13. 4r. John Chambers of Sutton St James, Lincolnshire, yeoman, is summoned to answer John Porye in an action of debt of ten pounds relating to a bill of obligation of 20 June 1623 at Wisbech. Chambers fined; to pay costs and damages.
  14. 4v. William Roberts of Chatteris, husbandman, is summoned to answer James Cott and Agnes, his wife, and executor of the will of Henry Bigg, lately her husband deceased, in an action of debt relating to four pounds borrowed by William Roberts and Elizabeth, his wife, from Henry Bigg on 20 Dec. 1622 at Chatteris. Pled not guilty; to proceed to jury trial.
  15. 4v. Ambrose Elvidge of Fleet, Lincolnshire, husbandman, is summoned to answer Robert Clarke in an action of debt of 40 shillings relating to the lease of a holding with appurtenances in Fleet. Elvidge acquitted; Clarke fined for bringing a false claim.
  16. 5r. Thomas White of Ely, yeoman, is summoned to answer Stephen Jellet, gentleman and attorney, in an action of debt of 20 pounds relating to a bond of obligation of 14 Apr. 1622 at Ely. White fined; to pay costs and damages.
  17. 5r. Susan Meade of Wisbech, widow, answered Henry Marrett in an action of trespass on the case relating to a debt of ten pounds owed by Thomas Snell, the brother of Meade, to Marrett, 20 Dec. 1626 at Wisbech. Pled not guilty; to proceed to jury trial.
  18. 5v. John Kiddinge of March, butcher, is summoned to answer William Thomasyn in an action of debt of 70 shillings and four pence relating to a sale of a steer, 20 Dec. 1628 at Wisbech. Pled not guilty; to proceed to jury trial. [This entry is on the outer membrane, text faded].
